New Jersey Republicans own the governor's seat and, if polls hold, appear likely to keep it.
They have some high-profile and incredibly competent legislators, numerous suburban mayors and county officials and others who would appear qualified to run for U.S. Senate.
And yet, according to today's Star-Ledger, the party has reached out to none other than Geraldo Rivera.
At a time when the party would appear in its best position in years, thanks to Chris Christie, what does it say about the man who brought us the very empty Capone's vault?

"To humbler functions, awful Power!
I call thee; I myself commend
Unto thy guidance from this hour;
Oh, let my weakness have an end!
Give unto me, made lowly wise,
The spirit of self-sacrifice;
The confidence of reason give;
And in the light of truth thy Bondman let me live!"
