I went through a similar book purging about six years ago, as we were getting ready to move. It was tough to do, but I donated them to a good cause - an outdoor book sale fundraiser sponsored by our local library in Newtown, PA.
I strolled by during the sale. There under the display table's legs, being used to balance it on uneven ground, were some old Kafkas that had been especially hard to give up.
I still smile at the thought of it.
